Everyone, please stand on your tiptoes! There’s some news from the Grammel house! On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Sascha Grammel will perform at St. Jakobshalle Basel.

After his four previous, wildly celebrated, highly praised, and dearly loved live programs “HETZ MICH NICHT!”, “KEINE ANHUNG”, “ICH FIND’S LUSTIG” and most recently “FAST FERTIG!”, our irrepressibly cheerful and blond-highlighted Spandau ventriloquist pride is now pulling out his latest, emotionally charged, yet wonderfully silly live program “WÜNSCH DIR WAS” from the hat, sleeve, or rather, from his belly.

From the very first seconds of “WÜNSCH DIR WAS”, it becomes clear why Grammel didn’t just accidentally learn the small ABC, the big multiplication table, and how to ride a bike with one hand on an almost real Spandau gingerbread horse. From March 18 to 23, 2025, one of the largest and most significant HSBC World Tour tournaments will take place at St. Jakobshalle Basel. This world-ranking tournament, with a prize fund of USD 250,000, will feature important qualification points for the 2025 World Championships in Paris. As a result, many top badminton players from around 50 nations are expected in Basel.

An attractive foyer with an Asia restaurant, sales and information stands, competitions, and more will provide entertainment and culinary highlights next to the center court.

Around 15’000 spectators are expected at St. Jakobshalle Basel. Live streaming, live scoring, and TV broadcasts in about 30 countries, reaching over 200 million households, will bring this top badminton event to the global stage.

Eurovision Song Contest

🎶 About the Event
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 spans about a week and includes a total of nine shows with a live audience, featuring two semi-finals and a grand final broadcast live. The event week kicks off with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Messe Basel. The main venue for the shows is the St. Jakobshalle Basel.

European Youth Choir Festival Basel (EJCF)

🙌🏼 Spectacular Choral Show

Choral Music Around the Globe. 1,300 children and youth in colorful costumes and traditional attire fill the arena of St. Jakobshalle. They sing and move together and apart, showcasing their extraordinary talents through solo performances and grand choreographies. The musical journey stretches from Appenzell to European countries and Cameroon, featuring classical, folk, pop, gospel, and musical songs. The event culminates with electronic musician James Varghese’s newly composed improvisational piece for a 1,000-voice choir and electronics.

Nineteen highly qualified children’s and youth choirs from twelve European countries, Switzerland, and Cameroon jointly open the 14th European Youth Choir Festival Basel. They are musically welcomed by eight high school choirs from the region. Over 1,000 singers deliver a choral show of superlatives with presentations from their home countries, video inserts, impressive choreographies, and the premiere of a piece for a thousand-voice choir and electronics by James Varghese.

14th European Youth Choir Festival Basel (EJCF)

Founded in 1992, the European Youth Choir Festival Basel (EJCF) will take place for the 14th time in the Basel region from May 28 to June 1, 2025 (Ascension Days). The festival is one of the world’s most significant gatherings of outstanding children’s and youth choirs.

Under the EJCF FESTIVAL program, 19 selected choirs featuring approximately 850 singers aged 10–25 from 12 European countries, one non-European country, and various Swiss regions will perform. The EJCF ATELIER program will bring together nearly 2,000 children and youth from Switzerland for communal singing. In total, they will perform over 50 concerts for around 40,000 festival attendees.

Additional events include Sing Along! activities, church service accompaniments, workshops, a gala dinner with music aboard the Choir Ship, open-air concerts, and large-scale events like the “Get Together: Europe in Miniature” on Saturday at Münsterplatz. The festival center, Sing Garden, will be located at Barfüsserplatz.

Beyond exceptional musical quality, the festival represents a unifying spirit across borders. All invited choirs are hosted by local families in the Basel region. Furthermore, 400 volunteers contribute to the success of this multi-day singing festival.

Franceconcert proudly presents Carmina Burana, one of the most renowned masterpieces of the 20th century, as a musical and choreographic spectacle. Based on a collection of lyrical poems, Carmina Burana was composed by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936. Since its premiere at the Frankfurt Opera in 1937, this masterful work has captivated audiences worldwide. The most famous movement, “O Fortuna,” which is repeated at the end of the composition, is now globally recognized.

The secular and Latin songs, passionately and powerfully performed by the choir and soloists, tell a story of life, death, fate, and, above all, love. Nearly 100 artists celebrate the joy of spring’s return, the pleasures of drink, and dance to themes of love and lust, while toying with the wheel of fortune.

This new production takes a sensual and emotional approach to this musical phenomenon, showcasing the inseparable connection between music, gesture, and language. After enchanting audiences worldwide, this original and vibrant performance will embark on a major European tour starting in November 2025.

Around 60 horses and Europe’s best riders, accompanied by a world-class dance ensemble, bring the show to life with emotional music and stunning light and special effects. Join us on an adventurous journey and experience outstanding horsemanship, breathtaking scenery, and a gripping story.

The enchanting tale of “CAVALLUNA – Gateway to the Otherworld” follows the young seer Meerin, who is cast out by her people and forced to flee. Thus begins an adventurous journey where she must not only rediscover her own abilities but also help a young king living in a distant land. However, her mission is complicated by the evil sorcerer Röndrup and his treacherous niece, both of whom will stop at nothing to make life difficult for Meerin and her friends.
