CAVALLUNA returns in October 2025, captivating audiences with a breathtaking show that takes spectators into the mysterious Otherworld. “CAVALLUNA – Gateway to the Otherworld” is a spectacle full of emotions, fascinating and enchanting both young and old.

Around 60 horses and Europe’s best riders, accompanied by a world-class dance ensemble, bring the show to life with emotional music and stunning light and special effects. Join us on an adventurous journey and experience outstanding horsemanship, breathtaking scenery, and a gripping story.

 

📜 The Story

The enchanting tale of “CAVALLUNA – Gateway to the Otherworld” follows the young seer Meerin, who is cast out by her people and forced to flee. Thus begins an adventurous journey where she must not only rediscover her own abilities but also help a young king living in a distant land. However, her mission is complicated by the evil sorcerer Röndrup and his treacherous niece, both of whom will stop at nothing to make life difficult for Meerin and her friends.

Meerin is captured, pursued, and manipulated, constantly facing new dangers. Yet, she also finds support and remains unwavering in her fight to do what is right. Will she manage to stand against the forces of evil, pass through the Gateway to the Otherworld, and find her way home? This thrilling adventure will mesmerize audiences, brought to life with stunning visuals and, of course, the most beautiful horses in Europe!

“CAVALLUNA – Gateway to the Otherworld” is more than just a horse show—it’s an extraordinary experience for the whole family, transporting audiences of all ages on a truly magical journey. However, the four-legged stars remain the heart of the show, and spectators can look forward to talented equestrian teams from all over Europe.

Among the featured performers are majestic Friesians, elegant Lusitanos, as well as adorable mini ponies and donkeys. From spectacular Hungarian Post riding to daring trick riding and harmonious liberty dressage—there’s something for everyone! Audience favorites like Bartolo Messina and the Portuguese team led by Luis Valença will impress once again, alongside new talents such as Italy’s exceptional rider Rudj Bellini, who is making his debut at CAVALLUNA.

🚈 Getting to St. Jakobshalle Basel
From January to December 2025, construction work will take place at the St. Jakob intersection up to the Birs Bridge, as well as on Zeughausstrasse. Detailed information can be found in the resident notice from the Civil Engineering Office of Basel-Stadt.
