On Sun, June 9th, 2024 the performance Schwanensee will take place in the St. Jakobshalle Basel.
Swan Lake, a timeless masterpiece of classical ballet, celebrates its comeback in 2024. Amidst lavish sets and sparkling costumes, discover the romantic love of the Swan Princess and her Prince on a brand new tour of France and Europe in the latest unreleased production.
This ballet immerses us in the magical story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. Odette is the victim of the magician Rothbart’s famous spell: she turns into a swan by day and becomes a woman again by night. Only the promise of eternal love can set her free. Siegfried promises Odette to marry her at the ball held in his honor.
Will the two escape the tricks of Rothbart and his daughter Odile? Will the prince manage to save his bride?
The piece was created by Russian composer Pyotr Ilitsch Tchaikovsky in 1875 and revived by choreographer Marius Petipa in 1895. He said that “Swan Lake” would be the greatest classic success.
Between “Pas de deux”, romantic duets and “Dance of the Little Swans”, the dancers, accompanied by a renowned orchestra, elegantly interpret this masterful work. As a symbol of the romantic ballet, the piece Swan Lake fascinates and enchants both children and adults.
