FLASHDANCE – Intoxicating 80s cult on stage
A whole generation caught FLASHDANCE fever in the 80s. Tight jerseys and sweaters that slipped over the shoulder left their mark on fashion. With its rousing soundtrack, the blockbuster has an enduring place in pop culture. People still dance wildly at parties to the mega hits “Flashdance – What a Feeling”, “Maniac”, “Gloria”, “Manhunt” and “I Love Rock & Roll”. And the story of FLASHDANCE is also moving. Alex Owens is a young woman in Pittsburgh who works in a steel mill by day and dances in a bar by night. Her biggest dream is to become a recognized professional dancer. When Alex falls in love with her boss, Nick Hurley, doors that previously remained closed open and she gets the chance of a lifetime – an audition at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. She is soon confronted with the downsides of her plan and has to make a decision: will she continue living her life or will she fight for her dream? A strong woman at the center of the story, who works hard for her dream and dances and lives her very own style. The actors’ joy of playing is just as enchanting as the rousing staging in a modern look and with the highest production quality. The decision to sing the cult songs in the English original was particularly successful, all other songs and dialogues are performed in German. O what a feeling! From the end of November, FLASHDANCE – The Musical will be on tour in 26 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
